This is a piece of new fusion single composed and arranged by the duo, Wang Lei and Yile, in February 2018. Aria of Yunhe is copyright Beijing Chuanzong Culture Development Ltd., Co..
After a field trip in researching of local music of South Zhejiang Province in China, we were introduced to folk singer Mr. Xiang, whose family had been singing their traditional tune for over two hundred years. We have sampled his singing on site, studied the background of this intangible cultural heritage element and reintroduced the major pentatonic scale melody (with starting note of zhǐ 徵, which is sol) back into a reinterpreted loop system.

The singer’s voice is accompanied by a female vocalist, Mrs. Zhelai. Born in Hexi Corridor area in Gansu Province, Zhelai has incorporated her part of the tune with a hint of western China tradition, a melody that soars in the dry land and often sang by the nomads. The two singers, without meeting in real life, had brought their distinctive voices together and weaved out a unique landscape. We were very fortunate to be able to collaborate with these two special musicians, one from the eastern farm-land of south-east, and the other from the desert field of north-west. The single was mixed and mastered by Marko Jovanović from Serbian.
